Impact of human activities on wild ungulates in Nagarjunsagar Srisailam Tiger Reserve, Andhra Pradesh, India

Human activities affect wildlife in several ways, ungulates tend to avoid areas of high human use and alter their behavior activity. We used remote camera traps quantify the relative abundance activity wild low within Nagarjunasagar Srisailam Tiger Reserve (NSTR). Major NSTR included collection forest produce fuel wood, livestock grazing. Poaching for bush-meat hunting dogs was also prevalent, but could not be quantified. The human-use except chital pigs, which require flat terrain water found prime settlements. Diurnal like Chital Nilgai substantially altered response activity, as did nocturnal species Sambar Mouse Deer. demographic has been poor compared other tiger reserves that have made free use. Our research highlights importance having human-free protected so achieve desired conservation objectives harbouring viable populations large carnivores prey abundance.
